Leland Blue Necklace
Leland Blue is one of my very favorite stones! I love all the different blue hues.
Leland Blue comes from slag. The story of the Leland Blue Stone is not exactly as alluring as finding one on the beaches in Leland. The Leland Blue Stone is actually slag – a waste product from the smelting process used in the late 1800s by the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company. This piece has been shaped and polished by a lapidary artist and set in sterling silver by me.
The heart stone is in a heavy sterling silver prong setting and hangs from a 20 inch chain with lobster clasp.
