Leland Blue Necklace

Leland Blue Necklace

Leland Blue is one of my very favorite stones! I love all the deep blue hues in this approx. 1 1/2 inch diameter stone, it reminds me of the water.

Leland Blue comes from slag. The story of the Leland Blue Stone is not exactly as alluring as finding one on the beaches in Leland. The Leland Blue Stone is actually slag – a waste product from the smelting process used in the late 1800s by the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company. This piece has been shaped and polished by a lapidary artist and set in sterling silver by me.

The round stone is in a heavy sterling silver prong setting and hangs from a  heavy 1/4 square wire circle 18 inch chain with lobster clasp.
